Digital Assistants are advanced computer programs that understand and respond to voice commands.
Digital Assistants are available on many smartphones, computers, tablets, and standalone devices. They use special microphones and software to listen for specific spoken commands from users to capture and broadcast content.
Examples: Google Home, Apple Homepod, Amazon Echo, Microsoft Cortana, and Samsung Bixby.
They’re also known as Voice Assistants, Virtual Voice Assistants (VVA), and Mobile Assistants. Please note: many purists believe that the term “Digital Assistants” should be reserved only for standalone devices (like a Google Home) and that “Voice Assistant” should be used for overall applications (Siri, for example.) However, most people use them interchangeably.
